About

Unveiled at an international school in Zurich, Switzerland, and refined over time in the Pacific Northwest, the Field Guide to the World program empowers students to research, write, illustrate and publish field guides to the plants and animals of their neighborhoods, regions or countries.

The program is led by science illustrator and nature enthusiast, Karen Luke Fildes, and natural historian and writing instructor, David George Gordon. Working as a team, they create an environment that kindles and nurtures their students’ love of nature and helps them to share this love with others.

Current Field Guide to the World projects include three-day, one-week, and two-week sessions for students of all ages and walks of life.
